Radio

Historically, radio has been the most common form of mass communication in Nepal. Government-owned Radio Nepal has been the sole domestic radio specialist since 1951, and by 1995 it was broadcasting in short-wave, medium-wave, and FM frequencies. Private providers can lease the FM channel, and there are plans to determine FM stations beyond your capital.

Television Channels in Nepal

Television encoding commenced in 1985, and broadcasters include government-owned Nepal Tv, which has two channels, and private broadcasters Nepal One, Shangri-La, and Space Time Network. All private tv set broadcasters have experienced financial losses and content restrictions. Foreign programs can be reached via cable or satellite television. Statistics on viewership are not available, but it is estimated at less than 15 percent of the populace.

In January 1985 tv set in Nepal started with Nepal television. It was launched as a project under the sixth development plan (1980-1985) with the slogan "Communication for Development". It was setup with a wide mission affirmation, "Produce and telecast programs on educational, social and spiritual conservation to promote national unity, conserve history and promote countrywide interest". It was part of a research project to study the feasibility of establishing television to see if this is econcomically and officially possible. A monopoly was got because of it for over 15 years.
After 27 years Nepal has sixteen television broadcasters including the national government run Nepal Television and NTV PLUS. The private broadcasters are: Kantipur Television owned by Kantipur Publication which is located at Tinkune, Kathmandu; Image Route managed by Image Groups of Companies can be found at Lazimpat, Kathmandu; Strategies Television, a media and current affairs route located at Tripureswor, Kathmandu, from July 2007 which is managed by Strategies Advertising began broadcasting.After Avenues Television, more news Channels were launched, Sagarmatha Television, in July 2007 and can be found at Singhadurbar was launched, Kathmandu.ABC Television set Nepal and Country wide Tv set were launched in 2008, News 24, Himalaya Hill and Tv Tv were launched in 2010 2010.Entertainment Channels started popping in '09 2009 with TV Filmy, with E-24 Television launching in 2012.Regional Channels like Terai TelevisionNepal Mandal and Makalu Television set started via 2010.Quest Legend was launched recently.Nepal 1 is beamed from India. Channel Nepal that was positioned in Shantinagar, Kathmandu was the first Nepali dialect satellite route, which discontinued in 2011.

Magazines and newspapers

According to federal statistics, in 2003 Nepal experienced 3,741 documented newspapers, which 251 were printed daily. Government-owned Gorkhapatra (Gorkha Journal) possessed the best daily blood circulation at around 75,000. Most listed newspapers were released either every week (1,304) or regular monthly (1,122). Most vernacular news media are regarded as having little credibility as a total result of affiliations with political parties.

The amount of internet readers has swelled by 57 percent in the one-year period from mid-Aug 2011 to mid-Aug 2012, moving the country's internet penetration rate up to 19.32 percent.
